CBT was developed in the 1970's by Donald Meichenbaum - general term for therapy that combine cognitive and behavioral therapy methods to address relationships between thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Goals are to have the client take and active role in treatment, to identify, evaluate, and change negative behaviors and thoughts, collaborate with the therapist.
